Library Tutorial

I took the time to see this video library tutorial video and I have to say it was very helpful and insightful to me. I need to be more specific in a few words, but wish I had seen this video before I did my research for all of my assignments in my Composition class. I thought I did okay without it, but just imagine if the whole class found out about this earlier. Anyways the video had summed up some of the information in regards to plagiarism. Committing plagiarism by accident is probably one of every college student’s nightmares, therefore being kicked out of college. This video has made me feel more comfortable about writing and doing the research for it. Another thing that I learned where the amount of databases that were available for us, so there are many to pick from. I knew a little bit about how to paraphrase, and it is the same thing as summarizing. On the other hand, I found the ethical research and writing to be very interesting. Overall, this video was helpful to me and very informative. I can see myself using this link in the near future while in college. I wish it was a shorter video, but I thought it was long enough to help me and many others. Perhaps I should show this to others that are not in Step Ahead, because they might benefit from this video for when they do research. The library is a resourceful place to do all sorts of work and learning how to do research here in this video anything is possible.

Advertising

I feel that effective advertising on the television is the best way to reach people’s minds to buy what they’re selling. It works and has been since the television was invented I believe. I buy products to make my life easier first and then for personal use second. I do not do a lot of shopping, but from looking at my house I see Vicks products such as Dayquil & Nightquil, Fruit of the Loom & Hanes white plain t-shirts, and Adidas shoes & jerseys. Whenever I am at the mall or the pharmacy, I browse at all the products and would consider a generic brand because in some cases cheaper and just as good. Sometimes I am swayed by celebrity endorsements such as Michael Jordan, because his cologne & shoes are amazing in my opinion. He does in fact use his own products that he endorses. Teenagers’ hormones flying crazy and want to have sex, of course one partner asks “Do you have protection?” and the other shows the Skin condom. Of course it is every teenager’s nightmare to get caught by their parents and here they almost get caught. Watch and see why.
Teenagers are the target and are more likely to buy the product. It’s the fact that the condoms are flavored and can be used as chewing gum.

Observing My Backyard

In my backyard I see the big man-made pond. The bright sun is out finally and feeling the heat. Everything that I see was made by man, but nature has taken over. Algae is in the water and the creatures inside the pond swim all over. The fish are small, but that is because the Herons eat the bigger fish as I see it them now. Since today is good-looking outdoors, I can smell a barbeque even though there is a ridiculous rule in my neighborhood that we are not allowed to cook outside. If the adults are out and about them their children are as well. The little children are laughing, playing, and running in other people’s yards. From what I see and hear, they do not notice how one day if the world may lose its green. Hopefully when they get older they will stop to smell the fresh air, taste the rain if it shall fall, feel the sun beating on their skin, see how beautiful or ugly the outdoors are, and perhaps hear younger children play. Until they see what I see right now, which in my opinion is a nice day to be outside; they will never know until they sit and listen as I am doing right now. Eventually, they will appreciate the details in the ground and in the sky. Since the man-made pond is the first thing I see, moving closer I see garbage. Now my generation is aware that our planet is slowly falling apart. I personally enjoy taking time out of my day to appreciate everything that is natural. After knowing that it could disappear concerns me. So seeing trash in the pond upsets me, so I act.

Biograpghy

Hello my name is Jose Manuel Fernandez Jr. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Naples, Florida when I was 11 years old. I lived near Chicago’s Midway Airport and lived two blocks away from my Catholic School, Our Lady of the Snows (Pre-School through 8th Grade). I played pee-wee soccer in Catholic School and loved it. My parents split, so my mother took me and my siblings to Naples, Florida where I finished off my 5th Grade year at Naples Park Elementary School. The transition from coming from one of the largest cities to a small one was difficult, but attending Pine Ridge Middle School helped. Pine Ridge Middle School was where I picked up the trombone in the 6th Grade. Being in the band really kept me busy and I just fell in love playing with the trombone. High School came along and attended Barron G. Collier. There I joined the Cougar Marching Band to later being its Captain the 2009-2010 year. I led the band to Superior Ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association, which hasn’t happened since 1994. Besides being in band, the U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) attracted me because I had a strong military interest. I rose through the ranks ending as a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel my senior year. In high school, I thought about enlisting in the United States Marine Corps to play my trombone, but I chose to attend college instead hoping to get a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarship from any of the three armed forces branches. I didn’t get any of the scholarships and was denied from FSU and USF. I was however accepted to University of Illinois at Chicago, Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, and Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU). Of course I couldn’t afford out of state tuition and applied to Florida Gulf Coast University.
